Mr Michael McShane
Managing Director – Brown Forman Beverages

Michael McShane is Vice President, Regional Director, Australia/ New Zealand and the Pacific for Brown-Forman Beverages. Michael joined Brown-Forman in 1999 as Regional Finance Director after a number of years in the wine industry and corporate finance.

In 2001 Michael was appointed to the position of Regional Marketing Director and in 2004 took on the dual role of Marketing Director with Brown-Forman's joint venture company, Swift and Moore. In 2005 Michael became Vice President, Regional Director, Australia/New Zealand and the Pacific, a position he continues to hold.

In February 2006, Michael was appointed to the position of Managing Director, Swift and Moore following Brown-Forman's acquisition of its remaining interest in that company. In September 2006, Swift and Moore changed its name to Brown-Forman Australia and Michael remains as Managing Director.

In July 2008, Michael was appointed Chairman of the Distilled Spirits
Industry Council of Australia (DSICA)

Brown-Forman Australia is one of Australia leading spirits companies and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Brown-Forman Corporation. Brown-Forman is responsible for producing and marketing some of the best-loved spirits in the world including Jack Daniel's, Finlandia, Southern Comfort, Jack Daniel's Single Barrel, Gentleman Jack, Woodford Reserve, Tuaca, Chambord and Herradura.


EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Mr Gordon J. Broderick
Mr Gordon Broderick is Executive Director of the Distilled Spirits Industry Council of Australia – a position he has held since the Council was formed in 1981.
   Mr Broderick’s long and distinguished career in the alcohol beverage industry spans nearly 30 years, beginning in the 1970s with his appointment as secretary of the Wholesale Spirit Merchants Association of Victoria and later as general secretary of the national organisation – and DSICA’s predecessor – the Federated Wholesale Spirit Merchants Association of Australia.
   Gordon’s ability to determine the needs of the alcohol beverage industry at important stages in its development is illustrated by his founding involvement with three major organisations:

The National Alcohol Beverage Industries Council (NABIC)
The Asia Pacific Alcohol Policy Forum (APAPF)
Mr Broderick has also served as Executive Director of the Licensed Clubs Association of Victoria (1985–95) and as Executive Officer of the Victorian Wine Industry Association (1990–95). From 1978 to 1985 Mr Broderick was a judge of Spirits and Liqueurs at both the Royal Melbourne and Royal Hobart Shows.
   Gordon’s absolute commitment to promoting the responsible and moderate consumption of alcohol has been recognised with appointments as adviser to numerous national and state governments on alcohol-related matters. He has been a member of Ministerial advisory bodies – the Liquor Industry Consultative Councils of Victoria and NSW – since their inception in 1974 and 1990 respectively. Gordon also participated in a government-appointed expert panel reviewing the Victorian Liquor Act.
   Internationally, Gordon has represented Australia in numerous forums. He is a former secretary of the Paris-based International Federation of Wines and Spirits (FIVS) and former chairman of the FIVS Standing Committee on the Social Aspects of Alcohol. In this capacity he had the honour to lead a FIVS delegation to the World Health Organisation in Geneva in 1996 to demonstrate the alcohol beverage industry’s commitment to the moderate and responsible consumption of alcohol.
   In 1992, Gordon was awarded the Gold SAM award for services to the Australian Liquor Industry and in 1997 was made a ‘Keeper of the Quaich’ for services to the Scotch Whisky Industry. In July 2000, Gordon was awarded the Australian Hotels Association President’s Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the hotel industry.
